EIC Alyse Thompson-Richards recaps some recent plant openings, expansions and investments in the food and beverage industry.

The 160,000-sq.-ft. plant – Chomps’ second dedicated manufacturing facility – is slated to open in the second quarter of 2027.

The plant allows Archer to double capacity while enabling production of over 36 million lbs. of meat sticks – or more than 1 billion Archer Mini Sticks – per year.

The facility has the capacity to process 200 million pounds of potatoes per year, producing more than 100 varieties of frozen potato products.

The facility provides Foreverland with the capability to run industrial trials with larger clients, secure small and medium-sized business customers, and deliver a scalable supply of cocoa-free chocolate alternatives.

The company acquired the facility in 2017 when it purchased the assets of Comfort Foods, which became a 100% wholly owned subsidiary.

Facility operations are expected to begin in 2028 with maximized filling capacity expected by 2031, producing up to three billion cans annually.

The companies will consolidate key operations, including their corporate offices, manufacturing operations and distribution center, into a nearly 200,000-sq.-ft. campus.

Kerry will create at least 61 full-time jobs over the next three years in the Lehigh Valley.
