Blue Bell to layoff, furlough workers amid recall

Describing it as an “agonizing decision,” Blue Bell Creameries announced its first layoffs in 108 years of business, cutting more than one-third of its workforce after the company stopped production and initiated a full recall in April when some of its products were linked to an outbreak of Listeriosis.

Cargill facility records 2.6 million hours without lost-time injury

A Cargill meat distribution facility in Mount Crawford, Virginia has logged 2.6 million work hours without a lost-time injury dating back to April 2008. The facility, which employs 150 people, ships more than 400 million points of turkey and cooked meat products each year.
