The long-term investment is designed to double overall production capacity, increase operational efficiencies, expand production hours and staffing, and solidify the Midwest's position as the global hub of kefir production.
In addition to the robotic manufacturing operations, the campus will combine multiple Yaskawa Drives and Motion facilities into one location over the next three to eight years, eventually encompassing more than 800,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing, packaging and training space.
The center creates skilled jobs in Janesville, including engineering and scientific roles, and complements GEA’s existing operations in the city, where 74 employees work at its Separation & Flow Technologies facility.
The expanded facility, which is located at 12725 4 Mile Road in Franksville, Wis., stands at over 334,000 sq. ft., featuring 32 dock doors and 37,500 pallet positions.
The new facility, located three miles from the company headquarters, will be used for pizza production and will provide 50 new skilled labor positions.
Lakeside Foods, a leading frozen and canned foods manufacturer, is purchasing Cher-Make Sausage Co., a 93-year-old sausage maker that produces summer sausage, hot dogs, ring bologna and bratwurst at its Manitowoc-based plant in Wisconsin. The deal is set to close on 9/27/21.
