Foster Farms investigating its facilities after undercover video released

Poultry producer Foster Farms has launched a comprehensive investigation into its Fresno, CA facilities after an animal rights group published an online video depicted workers ripping out feathers of live birds, throwing birds and slamming chickens into metal shackles.

Nestlé India to destroy $50 million of noodles

Nestlé India says the company will destroy its popular MAGGI Noodles products worth about $50 million it removed from shelves this month after India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority enacted a sales ban on the products for unsafe levels of lead.

FDA: Food industry must cut out trans fats

Taking another step toward removing trans fats in food, FDA said Tuesday it has determined partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs), the primary dietary source of artificial trans fat in processed foods, are not “generally recognized as safe” or GRAS for use in human food.
