NAMI critical of foundation for dietary guideline recommendations

The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) is advocating for better scientific evidence to be the foundation of new nutrition policies after it says a review of the science used by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee revealed more than 70 percent of the recommendations were not based on reviews of USDA’s Nutritional Evidence Library (NEL).

Lawsuit alleges dangerous levels of arsenic in California wines

A complaint filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court by California residents alleges 83 bottles of wine originating from more than two dozen California wineries contained dangerously high levels of arsenic, according to the Associated Press.

World dairy groups join to push for ambitious outcome in TTP negotiations

Dairy organizations from the U.S. have collaborated with dairy groups from Australia and New Zealand to issue a joint letter to their respective trade and agricultural officials that requests an “ambitious, comprehensive and commercially meaningful” resolution in the Trans-Pacific Partnership, according to the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA).
