The Canadian-based meat alternative manufacturing is opening its first facility in the U.S.

Solomatin will serve as Nobell Foods' new leader of food science and product development.

The company created its first shelf-stable plant-based protein.

The MSAB was created to expand upon that research, exploring the full benefits of mycelium as a part of a regular diet, and developing a deeper understanding of the health potential of mycelium as a whole-food source of complete protein.

Last November, the U.S. FDA announced that it had completed an evaluation of UPSIDE Foods’ cultured animal cell foods and had “no further questions at this time about the firm’s safety conclusion.” While the FDA pointed out that there were still other regulatory hurdles to overcome for cell-cultured foods could be brought to market, namely from the USDA and FSIS, the announcement was seen by many as an important step in adding another option to the alternative protein space—one of a number of trends involving alternative protein in the past year. 

Both versions of the RTM protein powders were developed for high performing/elite athletes who seek to get their nutrients from plant-based sources.

This new offering is now available in Chocolate and Vanilla.

The new products are available in the freezer sections of grocery stores nationwide, including Walmart and Kroger.

Health concerns, taste, texture and pricing were cited as influences in the shift between plant-based and animal-based shoppers.

The new system is designed to eliminate barriers faced by current cultivated meat approaches that rely on enormous bioreactors infeasible for scalable animal cell cultivation.
