Uncrustables can soon be stored either in the refrigerator at home for up to five days — reducing thaw time — or kept in the freezer for longer-term storage.
The ground-mounted solar array is expected to generate more than 18 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually, reducing the facility’s carbon footprint while providing long-term cost predictability.
The proposed facility will feature advanced automation technology and a streamlined design, delivering efficiency gains to Smithfield’s fresh pork and high-value packaged meats operations.
BHA is used to prevent spoilage of fats and oils and can be found in various food products including frozen meals, breakfast cereals, cookies, candy, ice cream and meat products.
The facility will be developed as a build-to-suit with construction scheduled to commence in March 2026 and substantial completion expected in the second quarter of 2027.
